Rain- Our Halloween Treat

The photo you see here was taken a couple of hours ago. It felt as though rain would come at any time and rain was in today’s forecast. But as the day went on, I wondered if it would rain after all. There were periods when the sun shone brightly, and then it would disappear behind the again.

We are in Templeton today, and this photo was taken from the orchard looking out toward the neighbor’s vineyard. The was a happy accident who decided to fly into the photo as I snapped it. Another Halloween treat for me. I can’t seem to get these shots when I try. Here’s a crop that shows off the bird more.

I took the photo and edited it.

After lunch, while my tea was steeping, I went out to get another bag of apples from the tree. Then I went back to collect a small box of walnuts from the ground. I barely made a dent in the walnuts, and there are still lots of apples where I can’t reach them on the tree, but I’ve done what I had the time and energy for today.

Now I will settle back, write, read, and listen to the rain on the roof.

Hallelujah! Our first of the new rainy season. An answer to prayer.

I have always struggled to capture birds in flight without much luck. You did it. emoticon

Great photo of the bird. Glad to hear you finally have some rain. Hope you get enough but not too much - not in one go anyway!

I am enamored with hawks -- this one is quite a beauty! My fella, who is city folk by background, can't quite grasp my amazement of spotting hawks and ohhhing and ahhhing each time.

The rain?!? Awesome...I hope it is just the beginning of good things this rainy season.

I can't take credit for it. When I try, I can't do it. This bird just flew right into the shot as I was shooting.

It was a wonderful rain and lasted for six to seven hours.

Me, too. I can now turn off the irrigation for a couple of weeks unless it really turns hot again.

Yums on those walnuts. Our rain has come and gone several times over the past few hours, but it did wait to fall until after all of our neighborhood revelers got safely home. Fortunately, we live in a gate community where trick or treating is not allowed.

That's another story indeed I am hoping that will happen atleast once in my lifetime. emoticon
