Category Challenge: Writing About Challenges!

Dawnwriter has invited all of us at Persona Paper to take part in an A-W Category Challenge . The idea is to go through each of the post topic categories one at a time, from Animals through Writing, and publish one post for each of them.

Many of us don't usually write on more than a handful of categories. I know I certainly don't! So having to write about everything from anime to design to sports is going to force us to take more than a few steps outside our individual comfort zones. Taking a challenge like this seriously can help a writer build on existing skills. It's also an opportunity to increase our exposure and broaden our reach.

My Goals for the Challenge

As we are nearing the beginning of November and there are more than thirty categories, I've decided that I will set a goal of completing this challenge by the end of November. That works out to more than one category per day, but it's still manageable considering I write on some of these topics regularly.

Since this introductory post fits well in the Writing category , I'm going to place it there. I may decide to run through the categories in random order, or perhaps just in reverse. I will consider myself successful as long as I can publish at least one post per category before my deadline.

Join Us!

If you would like to partake in the challenge, you might want to read Gulrukh's initial post inviting us to join her in the fun. Also, please remember to tag your posts so they'll be easier to locate.

Good luck!

Yes, keeping in mind that using the same title over and over may be seen by search engines as duplicate content, it's wise to give posts written in answer to the challenge a unique title, then tagging the post with .

I am going to do the challenge in random order, hoping that somewhere along the way I'll find inspiration for a couple of the topics where just nothing currently comes to mind.

I'm thinking you're going to do quite well with this challenge. Seriously. No joke.

Looks like i've done it wrong again then..

It's okay, Maxeen. Just begin again -- it was good practice, after all. : )

Yes, I think Kyla may be the belle of the ballroom in this challenge. : )

I'm doing it randomly....mainly because I didn't know anything about

Oh..great! You are one of them joining the category challenge. I am also considering to join and start it soon.

I haven't decided whether to do this or not. I'd rather write up the material based on the photos I've not written about yet.

I like the idea of using at least a slight variation in the title when I write challenge posts. That way it's easier for folks to know whether they've read my post or not, should they click on the tag and bring up just a long list of titles :)

Ruby3881 wrote on October 31, 2014, 3:17 AM

Don't worry, Maxeen! Your idea is a good one too :)

Ruby3881 wrote on October 31, 2014, 3:18 AM

I'm honestly not sure what prompts you & Deb to say that, but thank you for your confidence in my abilities Don :)

Ruby3881 wrote on October 31, 2014, 3:18 AM

I'm a little surprised to hear you say that, Deb! But I'm truly flattered. Thank you :)

Ruby3881 wrote on October 31, 2014, 3:19 AM

LOL! A lot of my "unfavourite" categories are at the top of the list too :P

Ruby3881 wrote on October 31, 2014, 3:33 AM

I saw your post about the challenge just a little bit ago. Thanks so much for the mention!

I wonder if perhaps you could double dip, Barb? Maybe some of your photos might suggest themes that fit in with the different categories?

maxeen wrote on October 31, 2014, 8:25 AM

That makes sense, didn't stop to think it through, always rushing in !!

maxeen wrote on October 31, 2014, 8:28 AM

Practice makes perfect.Hope so anyway!

I'm not sure I could do that, as I know nothing about things such as Anime lol.

It's a good way to learn something about those subjects! You can either research it, or you can choose to write about the things you don't know and wonder :)
