Category Challenge: Beauty

After writing about Animals , Anime and Art for my A-W Category Challenge, I am going to move to alphabet B and today's category is Beauty.

For this topic, I am going to go all philosophical for what is beauty anyway?

Confucius says that “Everything has beauty, but not everyone can see it,” and i agree with him.

Edna St. Vincent Millay believes, “Beauty is whatever gives joy.” and that is also true.

H. G. Wells thinks, “Beauty is in the heart of the beholder," and this is quite close to beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder belief that has held for so long.

John Keats says that ”A thing of Beauty is a joy forever.”

Aldous Huxley has a rather low opinion of beauty. He thinks and I quote: "Beauty is worse than wine, it intoxicates both the holder and beholder.”

But my favorite quotation about beauty comes from Elisabeth Kubler-Ross who says, “People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”

And this is the kind of beauty I would like to possess.

Who is the most beautiful person you have seen or met in your life?

In terms of the light from within, the most beautiful person was my first ever next door neighbour after we got married. I am sure she is dead now, because that was over 40 years ago and she was already retired then. She was a very kind person and I wish I had appreciated her more then, but when you are young, your own self looms so much larger than it should do!

I love the quote about stained glass windows. It is so true. Just noticed your challenge and might have to try to catch up.

Thank you . I love reading quotes because sometimes they say so much in so few words.

I really like this posting! I think beauty is in each of us and when you are happy inside then the beauty comes out. Beauty is also in what we see and how we see things. Beauty is my next topic in the challenge!

I think I would probably say my mother. Maybe my late niece. They were very similar.
