I was a distributor for Aloe vera and Aloe vera based products for an American company. But being an MLM set up the products were too expensive not having access to the common man. But I agree that Aloe vera has great uses and is specially good for the skin.
That image that you have does not look like Aloe vera. Here is a link that has the image of Aloe vera http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Aloe_Vera.jpg

It is a flower but may be if you posted an image of the plant with leaves which are actually used could have been better - just a suggestion.

I have heard of people who keep an aloe vera plant growing in their house, so they can pull off a leaf to use if they get burnt.

I have several of these plants. If I have a toothache I just extract some gel from the leaf and apply it. As a matter of fact I have some ache at the moment and I shall be going up to the terrace where I have these plants. :).

I used to use Aloe Vera for sunburns. It was very soothing. That was long ago though and I am far more sensible these days.

My daddy always had some aloe vera growing around the house. It seems that there are so many uses for it. I have used it so many times on my poison ivy burns and also on burns. I could not live with out it. But, I have never bought it in a commercial product except for cremes.

Certainly, it has been proven that aloe vera has many health benefits; it is said to help even those with lifestyle diseases like diabetes and hypertension. so it will not be surprising if it is good for acne too.
