He is Taking a Nap

I wanted to put this under the category Breaking News because it doesn't happen every day and this is sometimes the only time that I get to visit my buddies here at Persona Paper. I see there have been some improvements since the last time I wrote anything here. I am doing something a bit different. Usually I respond to all my recent activity first and do some reading, liking, and commenting first before posting an article of my own. However, lately when I've don't that I ended up not getting to the point of posting. So today I'm putting me first.

I hardly know where to begin. The title "He is Taking a Nap" sounds like it should be about Poof the Cat, but the "He" in this post is my almost 96-year old friend and travel companion. He is quite entertaining when he is not asleep, but when he takes a nap I get more done. When we came back from our summer up north we hit the ground running. We know more people down here and participate in more things. I, for example, played competitive golf 3 times already this week. I am happy to say that I won money each time, two first place prizes and one second. We do not play for a lot of money, but my motto is "Better I Should Win it than Somebody Else." If I want to win I have to practice, so "He" and I stopped for some putting practice on our daily walk.

That's a good motto. You sound like a good golfer!

Golf is both relaxing and great exercise -- and certainly most relaxing when you are winning. : )

paigea Our course isn't too challenging and it is in a senior community so not much is expected.

Yes angelseguera it has been proven that golfers on the average live longer than most non-golfers. Music conductors have long life spans too.

What you say here is very true feisty56 especially about it being more relaxing if we are winning.

I'm glad he's still going strong --as strong as possible at his age. Sounds like you're keeping him active, and you, too.

Neither of us is the sit around growing moss kind of person, but I guess for most of us when we reach "a certain age" it takes a bit more effort to move barbrad and he is starting to feel a bit frustrated about things taking longer. When he was only 90 I had to kind of run to catch up with him!

Congratulations on your golfing wins! It sounds like you're quite skillful :)

If I start reading and commenting before I post, I end up not getting anything posted, too. It's a bad habit. I tell myself I'm just going to check my notifications, and then two hours later I'm still reading.

Yep, that is just how it often happens with me. How is your kitty? My neighbor has the most beautiful all black long-haired cat and she is moving and of course taking kitty with her. Alas.

This is Guiness the Cat. I am as fine as can be considering I live with someone who buys the same old cat food all the time and whose idea of decluttering involves cluttering up my coffee table. There's barely room on it for me now.

I really like that moto. I've never golfed and have always wanted to take lessons, who knows maybe this next spring I will get that accomplished.

JanetJenson wrote on October 29, 2014, 1:43 AM

oldroadsoncetraveled Hi Guiness! Poof sez to tell you hello and I myself wanted you to know that I painted a cat face over my own today and played golf that way. It was a Halloween tournament. There was one other woman who dressed like a cat. She even had a tail.

This is good. That way you also celebrated National Cat Day!

tinamarie Go for it! I never thought I would ever take up the game and especially not so late in life, but really I am enjoying it very much and although I am not very good at any sports, I do well enough for my social circles and win enough to support my habit of buying golf gear. It would be nuts not to play now that I live in a community where there are no greens fees.
