Time for Fall Pictures!

I find ways to take pictures every season, but I find Fall is one of the best times to get good outdoor pictures of my daughter - or anyone who wants pictures :) Fall typically has nice colors in Michigan, and usually some decent weather. Another great thing about fall is that the sun is at the perfect height. It's not too dark nor too bright even on a clear day. If you go out at early evening - around 5 - you can get some good shots in the daylight and some dramatic ones as the sun sets. The lighting is usually perfect in the fall so I don't need to use my flash. Natural lighting is always best for natural pics.

Another thing fall offers is plenty of backdrops! First there are the fall leaves, which are always very pretty (except when I have to rake them). Then there are also the various pumpkin patches and apple orchards we try to visit in the fall. There are even a lot of small local places that set up photo-ops. Go buy a pumpkin and get a few pics at the same time :) Plus it's fun for the kids. If you can't find one around you, you can always head to the park and just use the trees and leaves as your backdrops.

Best of all, most of these backdrops and locations are FREE! You don't have to plan a day, or pay a ticket price. All you have to do is go for a half hour, let your kids play, get some pictures, and enjoy. If you don't have kids, bring some friends or family members and get some pictures together :) Enjoy!!

In the fall, it's almost like there are too many photo opportunities! So many of the trees and even single leaves that I see are works of art. I wish I could capture each one.

The leaves are finally starting to change here in north Ga more. I hope to get some good pics soon.

I'm not so much of a photographer, but fall is my favorite season. Maybe it's because my birthday is in November?

I agree, from October through January (my daughters birthday) I can't seem to clear the camera fast enough :)

Yes it's so beautiful. People in other states don't know what they are missing... but I could do without the raking :)

That would be a good reason. I'm a January baby and so is my daughter so I always say Winter's the best emoticon

I wish we had fall season here, but we don't. :(

That's really awesome! I don't know that I've ever seen anywhere that sets up fall backdrops for photo taking.

Now would be the perfect time to take some great pictures. The trees are still pretty and not all the leaves have fallen. Thanks for the reminder.

I love this time of year for photos, too. I miss living in a place where there were more colors to change though.

I love the fall colours :) I have never thought to take my kids outside to get pictures it just always happens that way. I always have my cell phone on me (which takes some great pictures) and I happen to be a shutter-bug (I love being behind a camera but I hate my picture being taken.) I am hoping to find a pumpkin patch in my small town to take the kids searching for their perfect pumpkins. We always seem to get more then the number of people in the house as I enjoy carving them up.

Michigan is the place for fall colors... for a few weeks, the trees are on fire!
