About Ebola:

The virus is transmitted through direct contact by blood or other body fluids, contact with contaminated objects such as needles and or soiled clothing or bedding

It is not AIRBORNE

It has 60% fatality rate

There is currently no vaccine or cure for it

It is one of the world’s most deadliest viruses and one that causes one of the most painful deaths imaginable

Sudden onset of fever

Intense weakness, headache, muscle pain and sore throat

Impaired kidney and liver function

Internal and external bleeding

How to Prevent Yourself from catching Ebola:

Wash your hands with soap and water regularly or use alcohol based hand sanitizers

Wear gloves, masks, head gears and a long protective gown if coming within one meter of an infected person

Avoid direct contact with body fluids (urine, sweat, blood, sputum, sperm) of someone suffering from ebola or already dead from it

Do not touch the body of a person who died from ebola (s/he is more infectious then) – do not wash or kiss or touch – cremation is the best possible way to eradicate the ebola in the dead body

Do not eat bush meats especially bats and monkeys – they are carriers of the virus

Routine Cleaning and disinfection of pig and monkey farms with sodium hypochlorite or other detergents should be effective in inactivating the virus

Go to the nearest Health Centre if you notice any of the symptoms mentioned above. Early diagnosis could save a life

Important, vital information here. I am guessing, though, that many of the people that need this information the most have little or no access to computers or the Internet.

LeaPea2417 wrote on October 10, 2014, 1:51 PM

Thanks for the information. I pray it does not spread widely around the world.

It is frightening even to read. Hope this disease gets eradicated from the face of the earth.

midastouch wrote on October 11, 2014, 7:17 AM

frightening indeed and that is why all efforts are being made to wipe it off the face of the earth. Big Pharma is making efforts at vaccines that would help in the eradication of the disease including Zimaps

That is also our prayer and hope. However if all hands are on deck, if the problem is seen as a global problem and not just an African problem, then we are on the way to ensuring that it does not spread

Certainly majority of those who need this critical piece of information may not be online but we whoa re online can serve as their eyes and pass this information to them by mouth - word of mouth advertising yields great dividends

There is a perpetual fight against diseases that crop up time and again.

Good point about avoiding contact with the body fluids of a person who has recovered from Ebola. The virus stays in a person's body for some time after they feel well again.

midastouch I have not seen you around here in a few weeks, I hope everything is going well, and after all the hard word required to contain the disease you can takesome time to add some new posts over here. Have a great day!

Thanks for posting this. I tell people it can only be spread through blood and body fluids, and it is not airborne, but there is such a mass hysteria about it.

we need to have information about ebola.let us all spread such kind of message to all community so avoid its risk..

midastouch wrote on February 14, 2015, 11:47 PM

thanks my friend for being on the look out for me
I do come around but mostly to make comments and read the latest in news from around the globe
Once in a while I shall drop something
do have a great day

midastouch wrote on February 14, 2015, 11:49 PM

yes the virus is not airborne surely
but the critical thing about it is that it can be aerosolized

midastouch wrote on February 14, 2015, 11:50 PM

those of us who have eyes glued to the internet can actually become the eyes of those who don't even have television sets in their houses

midastouch wrote on February 14, 2015, 11:52 PM

Surely there is
but so long as man continues to exist on planet earth
so long shall new diseases continue to manifest
