HerbanLegend: The Writer

So, I touched on a few of my hobbies in my intro, but I figured now I'd elaborate a bit more, and let some of you users get to know some of the different sides of me.

First and foremost, I'd like to consider myself an author. I've had four poems published in a small-press anthology, I have a self-published collection of 50 original poems, and I'm writing and uploading a multitude of books on another website. I'm not sure if I'll begin uploading them on here or not. Maybe if people actually want to read them.

I've known I've wanted to be a writer for most of my life. The only other thing I ever even imagined becoming was a firefighter--but that dream died when I realized I couldn't slide down playground poles without ending up with a face full of woodchips. So, I fell back on my safe zone; books. For a shy, skinny little kid who never said the things on his mind or did the things in his heart books were some unfathomable form of magic. I could lose all my flaws between dog-eared pages of tattered novels well above my reading level, and go on adventures to mythic lands or fall in love with witty heroines.

It didn't take long for me to begin to want to understand the magic of words and begin to make them my own. I wrote my first short story in 6th grade, and the rest is--as they say--history.

I've come far since then, and I still have a long way to go. But I'll get there. And one day, some shy skinny little kid will be flipping through one of my books and going on his own adventure.

If you want to check out any of my works, here are some links to my published works:

"To My Lover's Dismay"--A supernatural/thriller/romance anthology that features four of my poems:

"Herban Poetry"-- A self-published collection of 50 original poems by me:

And a link to my "Wattpad" profile, where I upload drafts and chapters of my books as I write them.

Good to see a 'real' writer here. Where do you get the time?

Interesting. I use CreateSpace. And it's nice to meet you.

First off, let me thank you profusely for calling me a 'real' writer. You just made my day.

And at the moment, I have nothing but time. Finding the time is the easy part. It's the inspiration and words that I actually have to work for.

Oh really, how do you like CreateSpace?

It's nice to meet you too.

Looking for inspiration is common to all writers. :)

I opened one of those links and see that you are selling your books. How about posting a poem here?

I'd be happy to :)

I love it. You can do paperback. I do two sizes 6X9 8X11.5. One for poetry and the other for fiction. CreateSpece is a in partnership with Amazon and and publishing through Kindle is available. I don't take advantage of the Kindle option that much, because my audience purchases books as paperbacks from booksignings, conferences, and local bookstores. I have two self published through Kindle and Iuniverse published two of my books through Kindle.
