The Boundless Energy of Youth

The other day as I was watching the lively puppy interact with the lounging cats, I got tired just watching him. This was one of the few shots I got of the puppy at rest. You can see another one in The Gang Was Amost All Here . Otherwise he was running at full speed as though something was after him, though nothing was.

The young of most animals, including us, have so much more energy than we have at the other end of life. It's no wonder that young mothers can keep up with toddlers a bit better than great-grandmothers can. I remember trying to keep up with my baby brother when I was twelve and he was two. I was much better at it than my 38-year-old mother was. My brother could go almost as fast as the in this very short below I made on my porch.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have that puppy's ? I could sure use it.

Yes, I could do with some of that energy, although more directed than that of young animals.

This little puppy is a silent performer :) Preiti was just that and more. She was kind of quite destructive but today she is a perfect lady.

I, too, could use some of that energy! I'm still sleepy and tired from a restless night.

BarbRad wrote on October 7, 2014, 1:00 PM

True. This pup does seem to lack direction. But sometimes I still feel like I'm running around in circles getting nowhere.

I hope this little guy will calm down a bit as he grows. I'm glad I'm not the one who has to keep track of him.

I'll bet you are. I hope you're taking B Complex vitamins.

alexdg1 wrote on October 7, 2014, 1:20 PM

I think I am running a bit low on those. I have gelcaps of B-complex vitamins, yes, and I'll take one with lunch later.

Yes, more energy would certainly be nice! We just got a puppy who is about two months old and it really is hard to take a photo since the only time he's still really is when he's asleep! So precious. ; )

I would love to have more energy. My husband is older and he has a lot more energy than I do. I don't know what's wrong with him. :D

i think we could all use some of that energy but less of that running around in circles thingy.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on October 8, 2014, 1:57 AM

If I had that much energy, I might actually get something done.

I guess sleeping puppies, like sleeping children, look angelic while sleeping.

Have you had your thyroid checked lately? Low thyroid can sometimes make you feel like there's not energy at all.

BarbRad wrote on October 8, 2014, 4:47 PM

Agree.

BarbRad wrote on October 8, 2014, 4:49 PM

It would help, wouldn't it?

paigea wrote on October 9, 2014, 12:19 AM

I am due for a check up about now. But I think it has always checked out fine. It seems like I am just a low energy person. ?

Feisty56 wrote on October 9, 2014, 9:49 AM

That's exactly what I often think when watching young children or animals -- If only I had some of that energy!

BarbRad wrote on October 9, 2014, 7:59 PM

It's amazing that pup was so active when it was so hot. All the older animals were just lying around trying to stay cool.

That is a cute dog. We have to revise the wording of our pets do not belong on the golf course policy because some folks do not understand what NO means. Some of the men actually came to blows over this issue while I was away.

BarbRad wrote on October 11, 2014, 10:39 PM

I figured you had been away. I've missed you here.

JanetJenson wrote on October 12, 2014, 2:41 AM

Thank you and likewise! I had to hit the ground running when we got back and haven't stopped since.

That will be me a week from tomorrow. My nephew is getting married next weekend down south.
