Have You Tried Werther's Sugar Free Minis?

Sugar free candies aren't usually my favorite, since many of them leave that "blech" aftertaste in the mouth. However, I recently ran across Werther's Sugar Fee Minis, and wow! They're great.

The flavor I bought is butterscotch, and the first thing I did was check the sugars. The box states there are 0 grams of sugar, but 14g of sugar alcohols.

Wait! That much in the way of sugar alcohols? Yes. But the box states the following: "For those watching their carbs, count zero grams, as sugar alcohols have a minimal impact on blood sugar."

Interesting, huh? I'm not quite sure what to think about that statement. Do sugar alcohols really have minimal impact on blood sugar? Or is it just another way to trick the public?

What do you think?
