Introduction for waywrdmedic

I am a semi-retired Paramedic living on the shoreline of Connecticut. I say semi-retired because I'm not working as an ambulance medic, just as a per diem medical advisor for concierge companies. I have decided to go back to school to obtain my Bachelor's in Nursing. I've been very involved in Scouting for twenty five years as a group (both cub and boy) leader and as an instructor in archery, orienteering and of course First Aid. I am also heavily involved in Autism advocacy because of my eighteen year old son who is Autistic. For fun, nothing beats a day on the water. I'm lucky in that I am five minutes from a State park and private beaches I can launch my ocean kayak from. I took it up a few years ago to help rehab a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder, and now I can't get enough of it. I've also taken an interest in farm to table cooking. I have a full herb and vegetable garden. My new project for harvest time will be canning and pickling. I've had pretty good luck with sauerkraut and am excited to try other vegetables.

Welcome to the site. You seem to be living a busy and very fulfilled life. I have plans of picking up archery as well. Just looking for the right equipment. Pray tell what is orienteering? Sounds interesting.

I used to love growing herbs in my garden. Welcome to Persona!

Allen, orienteering is navigation by way of compass and map: topographical, terrain feature or whatnot.

Nice. Should be interesting reading about that in a post or two.

Greetings, and welcome to our community! I also have a teenaged son who is autistic, and an interest in food diversity. I think we'll have lots to share with one another :)
