A Vinyl Coat Hanger

I love vines and this one is a passion fruit. It is not expected to flower and fruit for several years, but I am growing it as part of an experiment. This one is growing in dirt, but I have an identical one growing in water. I will need more than one for them to pollinate.

I am presently working out a design in my head for a practical support for the water grown vine, but this one that is anchored in soil is going to grow around and around an old coat hanger. After while, I will add another coat hanger at a 90 degree angle. Then I will have an orb shaped topiary.

Passion fruit plants are invasive like trumpet vines, so mine are indoor pets.

Oops, almost forgot the tag.

It's amazing what you can do with a coat-hanger! Reminds me I have to add some tags emoticon :winking:

This is both a practical and aesthetically pleasing way to manage vines. I'll be interested to see what your idea is for the passion fruit vine you have growing in water.

That's going to be a pretty cool design when the vine takes over the coat hangers. Good job.

When I was walking a neighborhood in Ventura near our building, I passed a hedge made of passion fruit. My guide, one of our building tenants walking with me told me what it was. I had never seen one, but it was prolific. I've no idea what the fruits taste like.

So the flowers are purslane? I've never heard of those before, but they sure are pretty. What is FOPP tag? I clicked on the link and saw others used that link, but that didn't explain it to me.

marshamusselman FOPP stands for Friends of Persona Paper and the tag is # and then FOPP which yields this clickable:
