I try not to use it! I'm not a fan of vegetables - I only eat them because Mrs Kasman goes mental if I don't! :)~

I have heard of it but never tried it. It looks like the kinda thing parents try and force kids to eat.

I like Kale a lot. We have grown it in our garden in the past and we grew some this year. We have used our garden kale when making stir fries.

Yum! That looks so very good! I love Kale and all greens.

That kale dish looks so yummy! I have never tried kale (not to my knowledge), but I'd love to someday and perhaps grow them in my garden.

That looks good and sounds nutritious. I am must look up and see if it is available here.

I don't think I've ever tried kale. Does it taste similar to leaf lettuce or spinach? Or turnip greens or collards?

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:16 AM

Such a shame. I love most veggies if they aren't overcooked.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:18 AM

It's better than the mustard greens my dad thought we should all eat.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:19 AM

Yes. This was basically a stir fry. Next time I may include some chicken. I used to make it with bacon, but we aren't supposed to eat pork anymore.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:20 AM

I checked your profile for kale recipes before looking elsewhere, but I didn't find any.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:20 AM

Its pretty easy to grow.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:21 AM

It's widely available here -- even frozen.

BarbRad wrote on September 8, 2014, 1:22 AM

Not lettuce. I've never tried turnip greens or collards. It's closer to shard than lettuce. I think it's in the same family as broccoli.

MegL wrote on September 8, 2014, 7:32 AM

I have tried kale before, just boiled it like broccoli or cabbage. It has quite a strong taste but although I liked it and would have taken it again, my husband was NOT a fan.Might try again, with this recipe, sounds tasty.

Kale is my least favorite veggie, but I like the tender young leaves sauteed in butter along with spinach, chard, and onions. Yours looks goid, though.

BarbRad wrote on September 10, 2014, 3:12 AM

I think greens are tastier stir fried than boiled or steamed. Adding other ingredients dilutes their strong flavors, too.

BarbRad wrote on September 10, 2014, 3:13 AM

I won't serve it if you have lunch with me again.

MegL wrote on September 10, 2014, 6:27 AM

That's a good tip to know.

Ruby3881 wrote on September 11, 2014, 10:41 PM

It sounds delicious, Barb! And the photo looks awesome too emoticon
I like the idea of adding the nuts to the kale. I will have to try this with our next batch. I'm also looking forward to trying homemade kale chips, and a lovely Italian stew recipe that involves beans and fall veggies with kale. How could I not have started eating this healthy green sooner? We just love it!

BTW, as long as your plant has some shelter you'll likely be able to keep harvesting for some time to come. I didn't have much luck when I planted kale, but my chard stuck around until after the first snow. I imagine kale is even hardier.

BarbRad wrote on September 13, 2014, 3:10 AM

Some years I have better luck with chard and / or kale than others. Some years one will thrive and the other not. I really enjoy chard more.

Shame, I should have written the recipe down at the time!
