Mixed Media Art
I mentioned in my introduction post that I like to do arts and crafts (so it kind of helps that I work in an arts and crafts store).
I didn't go into as much detail about what kind of arts and crafts I like to do.
One of my favorite forms of things to do is Mixed Media art. The image I shared in this post is not one of my own creations, but it gets the point across on what a finished Mixed Media piece can look like.
Mixed Media art is an art form that combines a little bit of everything. Mixed media artists will use paint, paper, glue, wood, metal, lace, and pretty much anything that is not glued down.
While Mixed Media art is not as dimensional as sculpture, it often has 3 dimensional elements.
For example, here is a canvas of mine that is still in progress. The mask in the center is a plastic mask that can be worn on a human face. You can't tell much from the picture, but it sticks out from the canvas.
Most of my work isn't that dimensional though. I use a combination of acrylic paint, collage, and Found Poetry.
I'll talk more about Found Poetry later.
Do you like to make things?
I have a group on Facebook called I Made a Thing and we would love for you to join us. We accept anyone who likes arts and crafts. It doesn't matter what your skill level is we just like to share our crafts and talk about them. (This is not a buying/selling site, just a place to share your work with other like-minded crafty people)
