My Squidoo Lenses Have Landed

I had 20 Squidoo lenses and they have all successfully transferred to Hubpages. Impressive stuff by the Hubpage's administration team. The lenses were low quality in general. There's one I'm quite proud of, two that are reasonable and seventeen are just commercial- mainly gift ideas- the sort of rubbish that Squidoo encouraged and led to its downfall. I've tidied up all the lenses hubs, so they all now meet Hubpage's more demanding standards. I can't say I'm proud of my new Hubpages account but it's not a total disaster. It's a start and something I'll gradually improve bit by bit. Interestingly, after I set up my new account to receive the lenses, I wrote a decent hub (about a thousand words) and it has had over 50 views in about 2 weeks. I expect my new Hub account might achieve pay out (50 dollars) annually even if I just let it be.

Sadly I've never checked out Squidoo's nor Hubpages. I guess I will have to get onboard with everyone a give it a look.

Mine havn't moved yet. I have 30ish still on Squidoo, though I did remove and re-home some of my favorites since I was unsure if HubPages were taking all lenses, or just picking what they thought worthy.

They are taking all the lenses with a featured status at Squidoo.

Hubpages is easy to use. Your recipes would work well.

Good result! Mine haven't moved yet. I downloaded all of my lenses (23 featured) just in case and then deleted 4 I didn't think would do well on HubPages.

You're lucky, mine must be stuck in a traffic jam, even though I must have been one of the first to click on the "transfer green button". I also see that the small amount of money I had earned there has now disappeared!

I tried out Squidoo a year or so ago, and it was REALLY addicting. Making lenses was so fun. Unfortunately, like you said, the site encouraged us to be salespeople. Lame.

Still waiting or mine to transfer across, but I imagine there will be plenty of work to be done, given that Squidoo spent the last 2 years trying to destroy many of them by changing and deleting modules.

I hope it works well for you. I've been meaning all day to attend to Squidoo business and open my HubPages account since I've decided to give it a try, but cleaning out my email, doing surveys, and now reading Persona articles have taken up all my day so far. Time to get to work.

I wish you the best of success with your new account at HubPages. I truly enjoy the way each article (hub) is like a mini web page that the writer creates, but I didn't have much success there. I hope you fare better.

Whats your name over there?

suffolkjason wrote on September 5, 2014, 5:33 AM

My main Hubpages account is Suffolkjason, my new account set up to home my Squidoo lenses is Jasonsuffolk. Creative, eh?

I'm still not sure what happened there. Did both sites merge into one or did Hubpages just buy some of Squeedo's content?

suffolkjason wrote on September 5, 2014, 8:51 AM

Hubpages have acquired all of Squidoo's content. Squidoo will be totally shutdown in October.

That's great news. I've only made two cents on my new account today, and that's with about 60 hubs. I am working feverishly on them to get them in compliance and up to my own standards. many didn't transition well.
