Product Review: Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Brew Strength Selector

My coffeemaker had bit the dust after many years of good service -- and good coffee. The feature on it that I had enjoyed most of all, besides being a 12-cup model, was something called a Brew Strength Selector.

I enjoy a full-bodied cup of coffee and was happy that I could instruct the coffeemaker to brew it "strong" for me. What this resulted in was the coffeemaker brewing the coffee a bit more slowly than it would otherwise, meaning more flavor was extracted from the coffee grounds.

I soon came to find that I could use less coffee than I normally would when I used the "Strong" setting and still have great flavor. (I could get an extra two pots overall from a can of coffee.)

Happily, Mr. Coffee still makes a model with the Brew Strength Indicator, another 12-cup model, that is also programmable and has a Cleaning cycle, too. I found mine for a price of less than $25.00.

The "Strong" setting on this coffeemaker produces the same rich flavored coffee I enjoyed with the previous unit.

We only use the Keurig system now. One perfect cup at a time.

My partner drinks coffee as though it's going out of style...we get through a couple of coffee makers a year but we do live in a hard water area...

That's helpful Information. I think my husband wants a new coffeemaker, since his seems to have died. He's gone back to manual drip with the funnel.

Not a big coffee fan but my mom is and she uses a coffee maker I'm not quite familiar with. LOL!

Good to know, the one I have as that setting and I've never tried. I will the next time I make coffee. Thanks for the review. If my coffee maker ever goes I will have to take a look at trying this one.

I am a coffee lover. I find that this would be a handy thing to have as I a coffee pot that doesn't have the option to brew stronger coffee and I am always adding more coffee when I need to have a stronger coffee. I think that once my coffee pot kicks the bucket I will try to find a coffee pot with the option to have stronger coffee (without adding more scoops of grounds)
