My Pet Facebook Peeve
I spent a bit of time on Facebook this morning, and as I started to interact with my friends again, I was reminded of the thing I hate most about it. Facebook thinks it can read my mind. It constantly interferes when I'm trying to make a comment. There was a lot of talk about ice bucketing there today. I'm so out of it I'd never heard of it. But if I started to comment I often could only write the first few letters of a word before Facebook would finish it for me by supplying someone's name that started with those letters. Hypothetical example, which fortunately didn't happen: I would start to say something about ice and Facebook might helpfully supply Ice Buckets for Every Need before I could even hit the space bar.
I just went back to find a real example, but, of course, I didn't type anything that triggered it. No more time trying to find the posts I commented on earlier that did set this off. All I know is it's a pain when it happens. I have start typing again and then quickly add a space or the next letter to keep Facebook for inserting something I don't want. Am I the only one this bothers? Does anyone know how to turn this off? I can't find it in the help pages.
