The First Week

This was my first full week back at work. I am a teacher who has been off for the summer. Going back to work always has an adjustment period. I started my working half days setting up my classroom. Then, last wee, the students started. The first day for the kids was last Wednesday. I was working on getting my schedule set, and I did not see my students all of those days. I am a Special Education Teacher, and it can take several days to get the schedule set.

This is week, my schedule is in full swing. I am seeing which students retained content over the summer and which ones are going to need a lot of review. There are new students to learn get to know.

This first full week seemed long. Teachers and students are still tired from getting up early every morning. Things will settle. It should be a great year!

Our kid's don't go back until after the Sept. long weekend here, but the teachers are there and preparing. It's hard to adjust after the lazy days of summer. I hope you have a great year!

I think the reason they started back so soon here is because Labor Day comes so early this year. It's always tough to get back into the swing of things after having the summer off, even if it was an abbreviated summer thanks to all the snow days!

Good luck with your teaching. I admire teachers for all that they do. My Mom is a retired school teacher and my sister is a teacher.
