Good News From Squidoo

In case anyone missed it, there was an update to the official announcement about the closing of and the sell-out. They have lowered the payout threshold to one dollar for the last two payouts for July and August. That means that even though I got paid this month, I will still be able to collect something from July and August earnings. I had figured I'd never hit another $25 before the final payout. Now I stand a chance. And so do many others who thought they'd never reach a payout. Maybe that's you.

There are also some very helpful groups for dealing with the change. One is called Lens to Hub Help, and you need to be approved, but it happens fast. There are also some helpful discussions in the forums for those making the transition.

On a personal note, I have one more doctor appointment to take up time today and a possible order to process that didn't go through yesterday. The customer has to correct her credit card information before I can process it. I've called and emailed and have not heard back yet. It's a tiny order, but a resource hogging pain to keep the Windows side of my iMac open until that order is processed. If it doesn't come through today, it will have to wait until Friday, because I don't have time for a special trip over there tomorrow with the Friday deadline coming for being able to edit at Squidoo. I have a lot of editing to do before then, and will be lucky to get enough sleep the next two nights.

How's your day going so far? Or how did it go if you're on the other side of the world?

I'm relieved to learn that Squidoo is doing the right thing by lowering the payout thresholds for July and August. in your waiting for the client/customer to get back to you, can be so exasperating -- at least it is for me.

Well good at least you are not left with nothing. I have never been to Squido so am glad I do not have to deal with it. Hope its a smooth transition for you.

The $1 threshold is very good. Otherwise, I imagine a lot of small earners would lose a lot of money. It probably won't do me any good. I think I'm owed about 19 cents at the moment.

Squidoo seems to be doing a much better job at closing shop than Yahoo Voices. That shut down was a big mess, and they ripped a bunch of people off. Good for Squidoo for not messing with people's money or content.

I've never was affiliated with Squido, so I don't feel the pain of it closing/being sold.

I love Facebook groups for the writing sites. People really help each other out!

Seems like Squidoo is doing everything possible to make this transition as easy as possible. Hope things pan out right for every member of the site.

I'm happy no one will miss more than a few cents.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:25 PM

I've done all I can do now, but wait.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:26 PM

Then you haven't lost much. Once the dust settles, maybe you can transfer some of that content here, unless it contains those affiliate links that aren't allowed.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:27 PM

Now I'm glad I never wrote for Yahoo.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:28 PM

Lucky you. It could have been worse, though. At least they gave fair warning so we could get the content we didn't want to transfer. Some sites are just suddenly gone, with no warning.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:29 PM

They won't lose any dollars, just a few cents.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:29 PM

Very true.

BarbRad wrote on August 22, 2014, 4:30 PM

I think they are doing more than many sites do when they close.

I think some of my Yahoo articles would be suitable for here. The lenses whole wouldn't work well, but some of them would be good to rework into series. Since some of my lenses were companion pieces to some of my blog series, it would be redundant to move them there. And since they are photo posts, they certainly are not going to that other site.
