Friends of Persona Paper - The Launch!

In this article 'Friends of Persona Paper' I floated the idea of forming a group to challenge us to help Persona Paper.

I received some feedback, mostly positive and some additional ideas. Mostly people felt that a challenge works better than coercion. So bearing that in mind (and some of the other ideas) here is the....

Friends of Persona Paper Challenge

1. Visit Persona Paper every day

2. Post at least 30 articles every month

3. Spend at least 15 minutes every day reading and commenting

4. Follow other Friends of Persona Paper

5. Promote worthy Persona Paper content via social media etc.

Most important- this is a challenge, there is no compulsion. Not everybody that becomes a Friend of Persona Paper will be able to meet all the challenges- sometimes real life takes over. It should be fun, informal and positive.

I was pleased that elitecodex liked the idea. Perhaps, if it has sufficient support, we could have an official page/link?

Reply Below to Accept the Friends of Persona Paper Challenge

I'll maintain a list here of people that have signed up. I've already added those that were positive on my first post- please let me know if I've assumed too much!

OK, I have already done a few of those, including sharing posts on social media! I visit several times a day but I am not sure i can commit to 30 articles a month!

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 5:48 AM

Great! Thanks Meg- I'll add you to the list.

bestwriter wrote on August 18, 2014, 6:35 AM

suffolkjason I am already doing much more than 30, visiting, reading and commenting and so I do not think I need that challenge.I have already posted around 230 in the 48 days I am here. I could have posted more but when there is less activity on the site it does not serve any purpose. But do go ahead. I wish you the best in your endeavor. I am elated that my post inspired you to come up with this brilliant idea thumb up

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 6:40 AM

Thank you for you comments and especially for the inspiration. 230 articles in 48 days is quite an achievement- nearly 5 per day. I believe there will be more activity in the days and weeks ahead.

Feisty56 wrote on August 18, 2014, 6:45 AM

Challenge accepted. I do come by everyday to read and interact, but the challenge for me will be to come up with something about which to write. I know, I hear all the moans and groans from the prolific, but some of us lead more interesting lives than others. lol I think I can, I think I can...

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 6:58 AM

You will, you will, you will! :) Thanks Feisty. Looking at your intro- I'd certainly be interested in:-

- Your recipes
- Your views about health issues
- Books you've read
- Your work with polymer clay (I've heard of clay but not polymer clay)

Welcome to

bestwriter wrote on August 18, 2014, 7:04 AM

Those who lead more interesting lives will surely have more to post :)

tinamarie wrote on August 18, 2014, 9:34 AM

Ok, Accepted! Although I do try to sign in everyday to read, my challenge is going to be putting up 30 articles/recipes! I will give it my best shot. Now, if I forget to tag FOPP can I go back in a tag it after it's posted?

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 10:18 AM

That's great! I'll add you to the list. You can edit and add tags later on. My thought was to tag with FOPP just those articles that are specifically about FOPP not all the articles write as part of the challenge.

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 10:22 AM

that should be written not write!

sconstantino wrote on August 18, 2014, 12:45 PM

I think this is a great idea! Count me in! I love a good challenge, and this is a great way to keep writers on PP motivated and excited to write and read others' writing.

SandraLynn wrote on August 18, 2014, 12:51 PM

No assumptions here, I see I'm on the list :) I'm doing my darndest and will continue :) I probably don't/won't do 30 per month, only because of other constraints, but I think the extra elsewhere makes up for it :) Hopefully. I will start adding the tag in with tomorrow's showcase post. Which I better finish writing, yikes ;)

Bottom line, we can DO this, all of us working together and picking up the slack for each other as needed :)

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:05 PM

That's great! I hoped you would be ok with being on the list. Totally agree we will do this! :)

SandraLynn wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:10 PM

Goodness yes :) I suspect you'll find yourself on one of mine soon enough, as well ;)

One thing we must keep in mind about this - and I'm just playing a bit of devil's advocate here - is to make sure it isn't looked upon as cliquish. That folks don't say, eh...I can't do all that and walk away (not from here but possibly feel that they can't take part or be friends of...because they can't carry the load).

The goal is for all of us to do our best in whatever capacity we can, to further the success of this site at any given time. Period :)

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:19 PM

Totally agree about being cliquey. PP needs everybody whether they can get here daily or monthly- real life always comes first. There's no room for ego, status or hierarchy. It's all about interacting, meeting new people, having fun, good discussions and sharing information. :)

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:20 PM

Thanks! That's great- that makes you number 8.

inertia4 wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:29 PM

suffolkjason Well, I will accept this challenge. But I cannot guarantee that I will be able to log in here every singe day. I will try my best. I know when my kids come I can never get online, so, that would hinder me. I have no problem trying to write one post per day and visiting connections and responding. And Also connecting with new members. I so far did all but share links on social media and write a post today.

sconstantino wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:31 PM

Sa-weeet!

suffolkjason wrote on August 18, 2014, 1:33 PM

That's great, I'll add you to the list!

Ellis wrote on August 18, 2014, 7:03 PM

This seems fairly manageable...

BarbRad wrote on August 18, 2014, 8:40 PM

That's a great response for one day. Hope the ball will keep rolling and we get more commitments.

suffolkjason wrote on August 19, 2014, 2:33 AM

Thanks! Great to have you on the team.

suffolkjason wrote on August 19, 2014, 2:35 AM

I think I might promote FOPP with a couple of sentences at the end of my articles. Plus I'll post an article about its progress on the first of each month.

melody23 wrote on August 19, 2014, 6:58 AM

Sounds good, count me in

suffolkjason wrote on August 19, 2014, 7:18 AM

Thanks! And now we are 10!

I'll add you to the list.

Akshar wrote on August 19, 2014, 5:15 PM

Yeah I accept the challenge. I think I am doing most of it..But there are times when I couldn't post an article .But still I will try my best! To PP!!:-)

BarbRad wrote on August 19, 2014, 8:08 PM

Sounds good. Do we want to start a group on Google+ ?

AliCanary wrote on August 19, 2014, 10:44 PM

I've done 4 of the 5, plus I'm in Sandra's Facebook group. MAYBE I can make 30 posts a month.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on August 20, 2014, 2:37 AM

Sign me up. I think sharing other people's posts is a good idea. It will get each of us out to a wider group of people.

OldRoadsOnceTraveled wrote on August 20, 2014, 2:38 AM

I like the idea so long as I'm not in charge of it. I'm still trying to figure Google+ out.

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 4:10 AM

I have an account but I'm not active. It sounds like a great idea - could you set it up and post an article to launch it- including a guide on how to make the most of it?

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 4:13 AM

Thanks Akshar- I'll add you to the list.

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 4:13 AM

Thanks Ali- I'll add you to the list.

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 4:14 AM

Thanks- I'll add you to the list.

LeslieAdrienne wrote on August 20, 2014, 8:03 AM

I am in.... 30 articles a month will not be hard for me, (Thank God, I have the time:) ), but, how are you going to keep track of who does what? Or, are we left to monitor ourselves? If you monitor all of us, than you could highlight those who have exceed the 30 per month goal. Acknowledgments go a long way in getting people to work hard and in promoting the site. Look at HubPages, they give you acknowledgments for everything and call it a milestone.... a lot of work I am sure, but very effective. Let me know if I can help in some way.....

Oh, how does the month start? Day 1? Day 15?

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 8:22 AM

Great I'dd add you to the list.

I'm intending to write my own report on the first of each month- including how many articles I posted, how many views I received, how many comments I made and activity promoting PP via social media. It would be great if other did something similar.

It would good to publish total number of articles posted by the each month. I really like the idea of highlighting those that have exceeded 30. Perhaps we could share these tasks?

The Hubpages milestone system is great- if we wanted to do something similar, it would have to be coded I guess. I'm not sure if elitecodex has anything planned

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 8:28 AM

On reflection you are definitely right- we should use the tag for ALL articles we publish.

elitecodex wrote on August 20, 2014, 9:50 AM

I had considered something along those lines, adding a bit of gamification to the site just for fun. It has been pushed to a lower priority but something I think would help everyone. Badges or something to give people little accomplishments for doing certain tasks.

suffolkjason wrote on August 20, 2014, 10:02 AM

Agree it's not high priority but a 'nice to have'.

AliCanary wrote on August 20, 2014, 7:37 PM

Trust me, people like badges :)

BarbRad wrote on August 20, 2014, 10:31 PM

Not until at least Saturday. Got Squidoo editing deadline.

LynnWrites wrote on August 20, 2014, 11:01 PM

I will give this a whirl and do the best I can. This is a great idea!

suffolkjason wrote on August 21, 2014, 2:41 AM

Whenever you can do it is fine.

suffolkjason wrote on August 21, 2014, 2:44 AM

Thanks! I've added you to the list. We are now 16!

SLGarcia wrote on August 21, 2014, 11:53 AM

I would like to give this a shot. I haven't been on here as much as I would like lately because of summertime life happening. My life will hopefully be settling down within the next week and I shall be able to make every attempt to meet the challenge. I like the idea of trying to be a part of making this site more successful.

suffolkjason wrote on August 21, 2014, 11:58 AM

That;s great. I've added you to the list!

poddys wrote on August 22, 2014, 9:34 AM

Sign me up! I can't promise to write 30 posts a month, but I should be able to find the time to interract with others and to comment on posts, as well as to share.

suffolkjason wrote on August 22, 2014, 9:38 AM

OK we won't send round the Spanish Inquisition if you can't do 30. Or will we?

Great to have you on board! Just off to add you to the list.

aolo wrote on August 22, 2014, 6:52 PM

Challenge Accepted!!! (Barney Stinson voice)...I am up for the challenge

JanetJenson wrote on August 23, 2014, 7:48 PM

You may put me on the list if you like, suffolkjason as I will do what I can, when I can.

suffolkjason wrote on August 24, 2014, 7:02 AM

That's great, I've added you to the list.

suffolkjason wrote on August 24, 2014, 7:04 AM

Thanks Janet! I'll add you. You have helped reach a milestone; we are TWENTY!

AdrienneJenkins wrote on August 24, 2014, 1:20 PM

Add me in as and I'll do and help when I can. I've been busy getting established with a new apartment move but will pitch in.

suffolkjason wrote on August 24, 2014, 1:25 PM

Thanks Adrienne! We are 21 and we've come of age! :) I'll add you to the list.

Kasman wrote on August 24, 2014, 4:13 PM

You can count me in and I have already been hard at work. You might want to read my post on what I have been doing http://www.personapaper.com/article/11080-count-me-in

suffolkjason wrote on August 24, 2014, 5:34 PM

Thanks Kasman- now we are 22!

JanetJenson wrote on August 25, 2014, 12:45 AM

I see that a couple more good people signed up with right after me. Yayy! I like that.

Ruby3881 wrote on October 18, 2014, 6:19 PM

Very true! People like to have a set of milestones they can celebrate, and a badge or some other swag to show off :)

Ruby3881 wrote on October 18, 2014, 6:20 PM

I was added on one of the more recent posts that Feisty56 wrote :)

Linda-From-US wrote on October 21, 2014, 12:18 PM

Yes, I accept the challenge. I will try my best to post 30 articles a month. But like everyone else there are days in which I am really busy. I am still helping mom and she has a ton of doctor's appointments. I will also begin to follow people later on today and definitely bookmark this page. As for the reading people's posts, I love doing that anyway. I am finding the posts here to be very interesting.

LisaSteinmetz wrote on October 24, 2014, 10:14 PM

I'll do it and start now. How many social media places can we share it. Is there a certain limit to the sharing?

Hollyhocks100 wrote on February 17, 2015, 8:27 AM

At last, now I know what FOPP stands for, phew, sigh of relief LOL emoticon
