So, you might remember that I said we were going to see the play, Wicked . We had plans. Lots of plans that centered around seeing the play.
First, we were going to drive to the city, park, pick up the city train that would take us near the theater, see the play, then go out for a steak.
Ohhh, the best laid plans of mice and Munchkins!
As it turned out, we had trouble finding the station for the train. Wrong directions from the transit authority. So, we walked to the theater. And after the play, we'd already spent four hours sitting and the last thing we wanted to do was sit more in a restaurant. So, because there's no place like home, we grabbed a sandwich at a deli and headed out.
Home to Toto. Oh, all right, his name isn't really Toto, but he was waiting for us and happy to have us arrive, sandwiches in tow.
As for the play? Oooo, wickedly good! If you love the Wizard of Oz , you definitely need to see Wicked . It's the story about Glinda, the Good Witch, and the Wicked Witch of the West, when they were college roommates. Wonderful music, fantastic staging, interesting special effects.
And my favorite line? The Wicked Witch of the West is annoyed with Glinda and says (I'm paraphrasing here), "Well, we can't all travel in a bubble."
One thing I will mention ... if you're allergic to artificial fog, be prepared. There's plenty of it, so take an allergy pill ahead of time, or bring your inhaler. And you get less of the fog if you sit higher up, so might want to consider balcony seating.
